A simple aftercare routine that keeps your ceramic coating performing for the full warranty period — no cheating, no shortcuts.
Ceramic Coating Aftercare: How to Make a 10-Year Coating Last 10 Years
A professional ceramic coating is rated for years of protection — but only if you wash it right. Here's the aftercare routine we send home with every Defyne Cars client.
## The 48-hour cure window
For the first 48 hours after install, keep the car dry and out of rain if possible. The coating is fully bonded but still cross-linking.
## The two-bucket method
- Two buckets: one with grit guard for rinse water, one for soap. - pH-neutral, ceramic-safe shampoo only. No traditional dish soap, no wax-infused soap. - Wash top-down, rinse panel by panel. Dry with a plush, dedicated drying towel.
## Annual maintenance
We recommend an annual maintenance visit — a full inspection, decontamination wash, and topper application — to keep the coating performing at peak hydrophobicity. Most of our clients book it alongside their seasonal tire change.
