Color-change paint protection film gives you a new color and rock-chip protection in one layer. Here's how it stacks up against a traditional vinyl wrap.
Color Change PPF vs Vinyl Wrap: Which Should You Choose?
Color-change paint protection film is the newest option in the customization world, and it's quickly replacing vinyl wraps for a lot of clients who want both a new look and real protection.
Here is how the two compare.
## What they are
Vinyl wrap is a thin printed film, typically 3 to 4 mils thick. It changes the color and finish of your car but offers little impact resistance.
Color-change PPF is the same self-healing urethane used in clear paint protection film, just pigmented. Typically 8 mils thick, it changes the color and protects the panel underneath from rock chips, swirl marks, and minor scratches.
