PPF vs Ceramic Coating: Which Does Your Car Actually Need?

PPF stops rock chips. Ceramic coating adds gloss and hydrophobics. Most enthusiasts need both — here's how to spec the right combo for your car.

PPF vs Ceramic Coating: Which Does Your Car Actually Need?

The single most common question we get at Defyne Cars: should I get paint protection film, or ceramic coating?

The honest answer: most enthusiasts get both — and here's why.

## Paint Protection Film (PPF)

PPF is a thick (8 mil) urethane film that physically absorbs rock chips, scratches, road rash, and bug etching. Premium PPF self-heals minor swirls under heat. It's the only product on the market that actually stops a rock from chipping your paint.

Best for: front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, headlights, rocker panels — any high-impact zone. Or full-body for the maximum-coverage owners.

## Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating is a liquid nano-glass that chemically bonds to your clear coat. It does not stop rock chips — but it does add depth of gloss, repel water, resist chemicals, and make weekly washes effortless.
